This is really weird, it looks like my LG DVD player just stoped working.
I remember few months ago I was able to watch DVD movie with mplayer.. no problem.
I could mount video DVD also, now I get: mount: No medium found
The thing is that I can mount CDs, so it looks like this DVD is not recognized as DVD !?
Is this possible, how do I check that? (the same DVD medium works in win2k)

dmesg | grep hdd gives me this:
ide1: BM-DMA at 0xb408-0xb40f, BIOS settings: hdc:DMA, hdd:DMA
hdd: LG DVD-ROM DRD-8160B, ATAPI CD/DVD-ROM drive
hdd: ATAPI 48X DVD-ROM drive, 512kB Cache, UDMA(33)

Wher I run: mplayer dvd://
I get:
libdvdread: Could not open device with libdvdcss.
libdvdread: Can't open /dev/dvd for reading
Couldn't open DVD device: /dev/dvd
I have /dev/dvd linked to /dev/hdd - which is DVD player.
And I tryed changing the premission... still the same output.
I even tryed Ogle, but it gives me the same error as mplayer.
I have the latest libdvdread&libdvdcss installed.

I have googled high and low... (this (http://www.linuxquestions.org/questions/showthread.php?threadid=94239) guy has similar problem, but no solution)

Anything else I can try ?

Do you have a CD-player thread running in the foreground or background? In KDE, for example the program kscd runs at startup if it was opened during the previous session. I've noticed that this will sometimes cause a conflict with other media. Try quitting or killing your CD-player if it's running.

Thanks anyway

I was using Fedora Core 2, on a HP/Compaq NX7000 Centrino notebook, with a Radeon Mobility 9200 Videocard, and everything was just fine.

Then I've upgraded to FC3, and my computer became a mess. To organize it, I've decided to make a clean install of a FC3 Official DVD image.

After that, I've installed APT and Synaptic, to get video software packages. Now I can hear music but cant watch DVD's or any other kind of movies.

I think maybe it's related to the video driver. In FC2 I was using frglx from ATI, and now the detected driver ATI M9 from FC3. strange thing, is that if I want now to hear sounds, everytime I start OS I have to detect sound card.

I've upgraded Kernel from 2.6.9-1.667 to 2.6.9-1.681_FC3, and everything just goes the same...

Maybe this help you, or helps someone else more experienced.

Joćo.
