I have previously run F8 and F9. I am trying to do a fresh install of F10 on a 60 GB hard drive that already has a 40 GB partition with Win XP and 20 GB partition available for F10. I don't get very far into the install when it hangs at "NET: Registered protocol family 2". The following are my hardware specs (may be off a little as I am posting at work and not at home):
Motherboard: Asus M2A-VM HDMI
Memory: 2 GB
CPU: don't remember
Primary HD: 60 GB Western Digital IDE

I get the same thing when trying to boot any recent kernel.
I also had this happen installing from an i386 boot DVD, but the problem went away when I used an x86_64 boot DVD.

I had the same problem.
This is how I solved it:
Under boot:
type: linux acpi=off
enter
And then the installation worked
