View Full Version : TORA installation problem

28th November 2008, 07:56 PM
Hello Friends,
I'm trying to install the TORA 2.0.0, I downloaded oracle instant client and performed the following steps:

mkdir /opt/oracle
#unzip instant client stuff to oracle dir
unzip -d /opt/oracle instantclient-basic...zip
unzip -d /opt/oracle instantclient-sdk...zip
unzip -d /opt/oracle instantclient-sqlplus...zip

#create sym links
cd /opt/oracle/instantclient_10_2 (your version may be diff)
ln -s libclntsh.so.10.1 libclntsh.so
ln -s libocci.so.10.1 libocci.so
mkdir bin
cd bin
ln -s ../sqlplus .
cd ..

#copy/create your tnsnames.ora file
mkdir admin
cp /path/to/tnsnames.ora admin/

#chown oracle dir to oracle user if the above steps were run as root
chown -R oracle:dba /opt/oracle
# idon't have oracle user so this above was not performed.

#export oracle environment vars
#su to root or sudo the following commands
touch /etc/profile.d/oracle.sh
chmod +x /etc/profile.d/oracle.sh
#edit /etc/profile.d/oracle.sh and add the following:
export ORACLE_HOME=/opt/oracle/instantclient_10_2
export TNS_ADMIN=/opt/oracle/instantclient_10_2/admin
#close the current shell and reopen to load env vars

#test setup and tns connection info
sqlplus your_username@your_connection

but I'm facing the following issues:
1- if I want to perform the last step from the above I get

bash: /opt/oracle/instantclient_10_2/bin/sqlplus: cannot execute binary file

2- running rpm -i /root/Desktop/tora/tora-2.0.0-1.el5.i386.rpm

oracle-instantclient-basic is needed by tora-2.0.0-1.el5.i386
libpq.so.4 is needed by tora-2.0.0-1.el5.i386
libssl.so.6 is needed by tora-2.0.0-1.el5.i386

Please advice.
