hi,
I'm trying to upgrade f9 on my laptop but preupgrade says 'no releases available for upgrade'
any ideas what I need to do?
I hoped preupgrade was going to do the right thing as the installer cannot find my pcmcia cd drive :(
regards

The official method is to install the fedora package called "preupgrade". The gui will walk you thru the upgrade process.
When I upgraded from 8 to 9, I used an alternative command-line approach, which should work for you as well:
1. completely upgrade f9
2. install the fedora-release and fedora-release-notes packages from the F10 repository.
( You may need to force it with rpm)
.
3. run yum upgrade
As always, BACK EVERYTHING UP first. The upgrade process is not reversible, and if you don't like the results you will need to do a clean install.

Hello, you are not the only one in that case, so far, I haven't seen a single case of fedora 9 upgrade to 10 through preupgrade.
I guess we need to wait for this to be fixed internally, as we don't know if it is on purpose (bugs needing fixes?)
yum upgrade is another way to upgrade, but it is not available either, at least not without forcing the installation of the release rpms.
I think we should be patient and wait for it to be available without having to get our hands dirty.
If you can't wait and try something, then please share your experience.

preupgrade is now fixed. I've run yum update and anything is fine :)

Confirmed, upgrade in progress through preupgrade right now.
We didn't need to wait for so long :)

I think I'm missing something here. I just ran yum update and reinstalled preupgrade and I still have the same problem....

Try a "yum clean all" and rerun yum update, maybe you are stuck with a non up-to-date rep.

Wow thanks for the tip and for replying so quickly! It took two attempts at this before it worked though - I had to remove preupgrade first, then yum clean all, then yum update, then reinstall preupgrade. No idea why, but it worked and I'm happy :)
