Samba SUS

I am olmost certain, I won't find any help about this here, but is there way to configure samba to act as a windows update server or proxy without having a dedicated windows running?

I don't think so. Microsoft's Software Update Services (http://www.microsoft.com/windowsserversystem/sus/default.mspx) only runs on Windows 2000 and 2003 server. Not only that, this new Windows Update Services sounds even more tightly integrated with Windows.
