Has anyone come up with a workaround for this? Ive got a Thinkpad A21M with an internal 3com mini pci card, model 3C55B. Ive checked the faq and found a similar problem, but its for a different card and the solution doesnt work.
Problem exists in a bugzilla report, but theres been no activity on it.
Help!

I also want to add I've attempted to pass in the option enable_wol=1, etc etc.
Version is Fedora Core 2 release.

I am having the same problem as yours too (using IBM A21m)...managed to do the installation. But, once it is rebooted for the first time and I try to make a connection to the Internet or do a ping, Then, I found out that the built-in 3Com Mini PCI card (3c556b) doesn't work.
Tried the solutions...but don't work for me, :-(
I even have a Xircom CE3-10/100 PCMCIA PC Card and it can't work too...module loaded but can't bring up the interface, :-(
Is there any solution for this? Or, does anyone have any network card on a laptop that works well with Fedora Core 2.

Finally, I got it working...
Just add the following to read as below in /etc/grub.conf: -
kernel /vmlinuz-2.6.5-1.358 ro root=LABEL=/ rhgb quiet vga=0x317 acpi=off
The important part is "acpi=off" but my Xircom CE3-10/100 Fast Ethernet still not working yet, :(

And finally, I successfully get the Xircom CE3-10/100 Fast Ethernet working.... :D
I forget to start the "pcmcia" service, hehehehehe...
