I need to download and install vlc (and some more...) and I try to do it with with yum install vlc with livna repo installed.
Nothing happens I just get error message:

Loaded plugins: refresh-packagekit
http://rpm.livna.org/fedora/9.93/i386/repodata/repomd.xml: [Errno 14] HTTP Error 404: Not Found
Trying other mirror.

http://wftp.tu-chemnitz.de/pub/linux/livna/fedora/9.93/i386/repodata/repomd.xml: [Errno 14] HTTP Error 404: Not Found
...
Error: Cannot retrieve repository metadata (repomd.xml) for repository: livna. Please verify its path and try again

The same happens if I try to do it with the package handler.

What have I missed

That is because livna is not supported on fedora 10 yet, there is nothing you can do until they add it for fedora 10.

Use rpmfusion. Its an amalgamation of livna, freshrpms, and dribble.

You will need to disable the livna.repo and enable the livna-devel.repo .

Actually rpmfusion replaces livna repository. You can read instruction to install them (http://forums.fedoraforum.org/showpost.php?p=1096750&postcount=5)
