Hey guys, new to the linux scene thanks to school, and was interesting in installing Fedora as a second OS on my PC, AMD64 currently running WinXP. Naturally, I downloaded the AMD64 DVD installer for Fedora, burnt the image onto DVD, and put it into the drive. Set the BIOS to boot from CD-ROM - and I get an ugly purple glitchy screen. Nothing else, I need to reboot. What's going on? It wasnt a bad burn, I can view all the files in windows explorer. What am I doing wrong?

Thanks, but all of these guides deal with problems once you've accessed the installer, and I'm not able to do that.

You do have some weird hardware, and that might cause a little trouble.

But most likely, it's the media that's bad. Check the md5sum of the DVD image and try to use the burned dvd on another computer. If you do get to the installer on another computer, do the media check and make sure all your media is working.

Any details on this glitchy screen?

Your school introduced you to Linux? Cool.
