Odd one here. I can boot and install from FC1 cd but not from FC2 cd or DVD. The machine is an IBM T30 laptop with cd-rw/DVD-ROM drive.
Boots fine w/:
Mandrake 10
RedHat 9
Fedora Core 1
Most, if not all cd's, were burned from same burner (CD-RW on Mac dual G4). The DVD iso was burned with Plextor PX-504UF drive. The resulting DVD has booted from my Dell D600 laptop just fine but not from T30.
Any thoughts?

I have the same problem. I can boot with my FC1 CD, but with the FC2 CD, it hangs on the line:
Uncompressing Linux... OK, booting the kernel

This was a known problem with the FC2 test disks, but i dont know if it is still a problem in the stable FC2 release. You could boot off the rescue cd then swap in the FC2 cd1, or boot from the FC1 cd, then swap it out and put in the FC2 cd. This worked in the test releases, but i'm not sure if it will work in the official FC2. Best of luck

I had the same problem and it is fixable, all the new hardware should support DVD boot.
Go to IBM web site and update your CD-RW /DVD combo drive firmware and it will work.
Here is the link fot t30 with the combo drive. Check the sticker on your CD ROM drive for the model name so you know which diskette to download .
