They say a picture is worth a thousand words.... So here's something from the psychedelic 60's for you :p Nope, I haven't been smoking anything

This video driver problem has been going on since F8.... You'd think they'd have fixed it by now! The dialogue box floating around the screen is a monitor error that says "Input Not Supported"

Umm, it's supported fine in OpenSUSE 11 and Mandrivel, but not in Fedora or in Ubuntu based distros...

Well, that by far is the most self-eplanatory picture I've ever seen. :D

Uh, huh.

Methinks you've left the computer a wee bit too close to the bar. Was there any inventory missing this morning?! <..:D..>

You lucky dog! All I get are vertical lines because the nv driver has never worked with certain brands of nVidia cards (6800-7800 series, it has to be a brand thing) and the distros are not smart enough to revert to vesa.

Mine is an easy fix. I wouldnt hold my breath on yours though Wayne. I dont think it is high on their priority list and they certainly dont seem overly concerned with making people happy. I do hate to say it, and I understand your circumstances, but that card has been a thorn in your side for a long time now. Maybe get opensuse tweaked to your liking? You dont seem to have many options.

Hi JN4,

It's even worse with the F10 snapshots as they've removed xorg.conf and system-config-display so you either have the driver that's picked FOR YOU or lump it. Of course, you can always make your own xorg.conf and copy it over :) Even the text mode application "setup" has the video driver config option removed!

OpenSUSE 11 has one annoyance that I haven't bothered to figure out yet, but I'll get there :) BTW. Even OS 11.1 beta works with my card!

Fedora hasn't just dropped the ball, they've scored an own goal here :( Pity Mint has the same/similar bug, I'd like to give that a try.

Which indicates that the issue might be with xorg.
System-config-display can be installed by yum. I'd try booting into runlevel 3 then installing system-config-display. Is xorgconfig still included?

interesting OpenSuse11.1 works for you Wayne but not suprised that it does, ..

i have to agree with JN4.. Redhat/fedora do not care about keeping people happy.

Looks like a pretty fractal map :)
I also wonder, why beta/alpha release is worth of this kind of discussion.

Because it is WONDERFUL and will replace every distro and version of LINUX on the planet
