View Full Version : Alt+Fn virtual console switch problem

There are two problems here. I think they are correlated, so I put them in the same post.

Problem 1:

Boot Fedora 10 Beta into X (runlevel 5). Alt+Fn (n=2 to 6) can switch between virtual consoles, but Alt+F7 will cause a frozen black screen with a mouse cursor on it. I have to wait for up to 2 minutes to get my desktop back.

Problem 2:

Following Problem 1. Alt+F1 will only show a cursor on the top left corner of screen without login prompt. However, Alt+Fn(n=2 to 6) all work fine.
If I reboot into runlevel 3, virtual console 1 will show the login prompt but nothing will show up when I type my user name. I have to type in a random user name + Return key + random password + Return key, and wait for the "incorrect login" information show up. After that, the keyboard works as usual. Virtual console 2 to 6 don't have such problem.

Anyone has met the same problem or has any idea what is related to this problem? My computer is Compaq Presario C762NR laptop. Thanks.

Isn't it supposed to be CTRL + ALT + Fn??? I went to ALT+F4 something the other day and it swapped consoles.
