Does it have the latest software, for the most part, like, networkmanagerwise.

If so, I could probably try it.

its still xfce-4.4.2 so im sure its got all the goodies ..

Rahul is there a chance you'll do a xfce-4.6.0 version for fedora10 when its released or no?

Xfce 4.6 (which is not yet a stable release) will probably go into only Fedora 11. Post-release updates for major versions are unlikely.

Just to let ya know, I got a partition ready for it, got a blank CD, and I'm downloading as we speak. It shouldn't be too long before you get some feedback.

F10 snapshot 2 Xfce Live installed to a 2GB pendrive with a 1GB persistent overlay and running from an Acer Aspire One. Wireless works(atheros) Sound works, Web camera (Cheese) works in F10 snapshot 2 Gnome but don't see an entry for it in Xfce.

EDIT: Cheese Web camera booth wasn't installed, installed and is now working. :)

I've got it installed(32-bit version) on an HP with a Pentium Dual Core E2200 no probs. Everything seems to work quite nicely thus far. Even b43 worked right on the spot, normally I have to tweak things to get it to work.

I second the request to put xfce 4.6 in Fedora 10.

The improvements over 4.4 are too numerous to count.

Hi,

Xfce 4.6 does not exist. What we have in xfce.org is just a beta release. Fedora 10 is currently in a development freeze to stabilize it. Introducing beta components at this stage is not possible.

it might be in beta Rahul but didnt stop Ajax from shipping a beta x-server in fedora 9 did it

Hi,

The situation is entirely different and has been discussed in detail in Fedora development list. I suggest you refer to that instead of rehashing the same topic is a different thread. Nothing except feedback on Xfce development snapshot is warranted here.

no problem,, i'll look there

Hi

Here you go

http://fcp.surfsite.org/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?topic_id=56262&viewmode=flat&order=ASC&start=0

Feel free to read the entire thread. 1.4.99 vs 1.5 doesn't make much of a difference. The ABI changed and proprietary third party drivers play catch up as usual. No news there. Let's get back to discussing Xfce here. Xfce 4.6 beta is not going to go into Fedora 10 before it's release. Too late for playing around with beta releases.

If anything, I'd like to backport the patch from xfce 4.6 that makes xfwm4 detect that an application crashed and alerts the user to kill it.

Hi,

We generally prefer staying close to upstream releases as much as possible for reasons outlined in

http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/PackageMaintainers/WhyUpstream

Very few exceptions are made for important bugs. Yours sounds more like a feature enhancement which is unlikely to go in but feel free to file a RFE in http://bugzilla.redhat.com.
