I have F9 (with SELinux disabled) installed on my laptop and HPLIP 2.8.9 installed from http://hplipopensource.com/hplip-web/index.html

The problem is that the installation was correctly installed and Deskjet F4240 was detected. Unfortunately, I cannot print anything but I am able to scan. I have a ticket open with HPLIP:
https://answers.launchpad.net/hplip/+question/45848

I am now getting this error message and don't know what to think or where to go from here:

dBus Connection Error (Failed to connect to socket /var/run/dbus/system_bus_socket: Permission denied)

Please help

I have a similar problem on FC7 with HPLIP 2.8.9 and my Photosmart C7280. I can scan, but no printing. And I get communication errors 5012.

Let me know if you determine anything.

Thanks!

Pstrang,

Can you be a little more specific? Can you give me the whole error message?

When I'm able, I'll pass more info. But the basic error was just that 5012 communication error and Fedora popped up a message window indicating the Printer might not be connected. The print jobs just sat in the queue, nothing ever got printed.

But the Photosmart C7280 has the ability to be configured as a stand alone network printer. In this mode, printing seems to be working fine. Also, scanning is still working over the USB.

But USB printing is still broken.

Thanks.

Why not use Fedora Repo for those?

Start your terminal

su -
yum install hplip hpijs libsane-hpaio xsane
