View Full Version : HAL has done it! MX1000 finally works! (with a glitch)

I have been using a Logitech MX1000 since FC4 and it has always been a pain to get its multitude of buttons to work, especially if one chooses to connect it to the PS/2 port. Recently, I had to reinstall Fedora 9 after a hard disk failure and while I was busy restoring documents and settings for various programs, I noticed that my tilt wheel was working, as well as the "back" and "forward" buttons. I did a cat /etc/X11/xorg.conf and noticed there was no "Mouse" section, so I knew something had changed and it wasn't my doing.

The glitch mentioned in the title is that vertical scrolling is inverted, i.e. tilting the wheel to the right, scrolls a document to the left. Though I don't consider this to be much of a problem, (just like the application button that doesn't work at all) I wonder if anyone can point me to the right direction regarding HAL and fdi rules and if it is possible to write a rule to fix the issue (and how I should go about it).

Even if that is not possible, I am just thrilled about the whole "Just Works" thing!

Well it's not surprising that no one has posted something regarding HAL and fdi rules, info on the subject is scarce on the web. If someone can give me an interesting link or something, I'd be grateful.

In the mean time I am happy to report that an IR remote that came with my graphics card (Asus V9520HT) is also working, at least most of the buttons that could mean something to Gnome. In all previous Fedora versions the IR USB receiver was identified as a HID-compliant device, but that was it.
