Do i need to install this kernel & if so how do i do it from a command prompt(black screen) I went to install video drivers via this post here http://forums.fedoraforum.org/showthread.php?t=201106 not sure how to fix all of this now, hehe. TY in advance.

Currently using kernel 2.6.26.5-45.fc9.x86_64 of a freshly installed & updated FC9 :D

doing a yum install kernel-PAE does this:

Loaded plugins: refresh-packagekit
Setting up Install Process
Parsing package install arguments
No package kernel-pae availible.
Nothing to do

In short, no you do not need the PAE (Physical Address Extensions) kernel, since you already have the x86_64 kernel which is actually better at managing large memory sizes (>3GB) than PAE (which is a 32-bit kernel).

As to the video drivers, there are x86_64 (64-bit) driver versions from Livna, which should be automatically matched to your architecture (i.e. you don't need to specify when installing).

you need to remove those drivers an boot into fedora GUI an install the livna repo an then install the open source nvidia drivers
