I have recently brought a toshiba 42 television (42XV503DB if it helps) and have brought a dvi to hdmi cable to connect it to my fedora 9 box.

Using the nvidia config tool I got the screen to project on my tv like with my svideo connection (as a seperate x screen). The problem is that the picture is too big I can move my mouse out of the displayable screen. for example I can't see the top and bottom panels but they are there(left and right seems not to be right as well).

Is there any way of fixing this problem or can someone point me in the right direction for a goggle search as my searches are not turning up anything useful.

thanks for any help in advance

know it was a case of putting the magic words in google

for anyone interested look here

Apparently it's due to something called overscan on the tv (not a linux prob at all) on the toshiba you have to press a obscure button that looks like a screen being crushed. and select exact scan (can be called just scan on some tv's)

hope this helps
