it only boots under qemu at the moment and with lots of errors, im trying to get it to boot thru my hp dv 2000 bios it tries to boot but im getting a ton of kernel errors. it then unmounts everything and drops me into a basic shell but in qemu i can get into a grapical boot.(montor resoulton is qemu is huge so i cant see anything)

EDIT:

I reinstalled the system a different way and still gives me an error and no grapical desktop.

unable to find persistent overlay

it also says there is no fstab.sys

I have installed Fedora 9 to usb by running this from a terminal as "su"
livecd-iso-to-disk --overlay-size-mb 1024 Fedora-9-i686-Live.iso /dev/sdb1
you may have to change the overlay size and dev yours may not be "sdb1". You can plug in the usb device and enter:
df -h
and it should give you needed info also check this link FedoraLiveCD/USBHowTo (https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/FedoraLiveCD/USBHowTo). :)

with the iso burned to cd i can get the usb to boot only on my desktop i tried the same trick on my desktop it did not work x
i tried to edit xorg.conf from my desktop got a blank white page discovered it appartely isnt in etc/X11 where it should be if its there. i searched for it and only got some tar file.my desktop is a dell dimesiion 8200 and my laptop is a hp pavilion dv 2000
