So? I think you're missing the point, Demz.
The way it was before the upgrade, logged-in members didn't see the ads. Without ad blocking software, guests did. Apparently, Wayne's seeing them while logged in.

I have Flashblock but not Adblock, but I shouldn't need them as a member. Ads were not visible to members on the old board.

I'm not seeing any ads, but I have Noscript, Adblock Plus, and a massive hosts file. Very few ads make it through my perimeter. :p

I don't see any ads, including from within a Windows guest OS (but with Adblock Plus installed).

I remember installing Adblock once and trying it out and there was a reason why I removed it. For the life of me I can't remember what it was and I don't want to have to find out again :) I'm getting lazy and don't want to waste time installing/uninstalling stuff...
Flashblock is necessary for one site I visit regularly. The pages don't render correctly for me if Flash is enabled, the text flows into the Flash video area of the page and is unreadable. It's a news site so the text is more important than the Flash :)

The whole point is that us members should NOT have to see ads regardless if we use adblock or not.

well then, you pay ewdi back the money he's spending on the upgrade of this Board an all the rest then im sure he'll get rid of the ads,
as i said .. somehow the Board has to be paid for an other things,
i can always stop you from seeing the Ads if you like.. doesnt take much to ban someone

Well Kona your point is understandable, considering older version of ffo didn't show ad to its registered members, but this is a free forum and there must be some way to support itself. While I'm annoyed by the ads myself, I do understand the reason for putting ads by the maintainers of this website.
Having an ad displayed is an annoyance I can live with and hardly something to crib about.
Edit: ... and its just one ad. Surely its not that intrusive is it?

Demz - no one asked anyone to upgrade the board. It was fine the way it was.
Why the threats again? You shouldn't joke about banning people. That hurts.

Kona cool it!
Take a beer and think it over, there are no websites which can support itself without any revenue. I frequent free photography websites and they have ads too. One would think a website for photography would be more sensitive to ads but they are not.

stop your whinging then ..
im only gonna say this once more an for the last time
ewdi needs a way to pay for this board an the Server this board runs on, so he has to place Ads to help pay for the board Maintenance etc .. im sure ewdi would love to be a Billionaire kona but unfortunately he isn't .

No worries I understand. I just thought for us members we would not have to see the ads. All is well. I installed adblock.
Sorry.

WayneWayne, maybe you uninstalled AdBlock because that's the one that you have to play with EVERY time you visit a new site, allowing and disallowing different aspects of each new site until the program learns your habits and preferences. Get's pretty annoying after about 6 seconds of use.
