1) ok ok i know it is a bad idea but how do you enable the gnome gui login for root in fc10a? i've set up a test box just to learn a few things about f10 and linux so security is not a problem.
2) how do you do a clean install of f10 that disables selinux? i can't seem to find a config option in the setup sequence. please help! thanks!

I think they've made it pretty difficult to do a graphical boot and login as root. You can do a textmode boot, run level 3, and then do startx--I believe that still works. I'm sure there's other workarounds, but I've never looked into it.
As for selinux, my memory is hazy--up to F8 or F9, there was the word "boot" at the end of the graphical choice method--I believe the way to get to it now is to hit the escape key. When you see that word boot, you can selinux=0
then hit enter.
(No guarantee on that, but perhaps someone else who sees this post can either confirm that hitting escape is the way to get to that prompt or correct my error if I'm wrong.)

I hope they don't overly try to keep up from accidentally wiping our own HDD with F10, that's part of why I like Fedora over some of the other distros. If I want to log in to Gnome as root and see what rm -rf / does by golly I can do it and not get any crap about how I need my sudo password.
I thought Fedora was meant for that kinda stuff.

so far as i believe they do this with GDM during testing periods, im sure they wont do that when its released ( the final )

Actually, Demz, though I could be wrong, I believe they are planning to keep it in. Like all the others, they're forgetting the adage that, "Unix doesn't keep you from doing stupid things, because that would keep you from doing smart things."
Whether the reasons are good or bad, I don't know. I remember the old joke, you can't make anything idiot proof, because nature will build a better idiot. Looking at this study

one has to believe that.
I guess they're trying to figure out their identity. We who use it accept that it's often broken while they try new things, but the newcomer probably won't.

Ahh - do I hear the sound of training wheels being welded into place ? Gnome has taken a hard turn toward the user=dummy school of interfaces, but I refuse to cry over spoilt desktops.
What exactly is the problem w/ disabling SELinux on F10a ? Is this just the lack of an install disable option ?
