i never could get winex to install on my fc1 system. I can't remember the exact reason but it had something to do with my video card. So, I went and downloaded an update driver from ati for Xfree86 4.3 (that's the version I have). I installed the fglrx RPM and ran the config program. Everything thing seemed to run smooth. Then, when trying to startx i got blank screen and nothing worked except reboot. After booting into init3 and checking /var/log/xfree.... the log file said dri could not be initialized. It also said that agp could not be started. So, I did an insmod agpgart manually and still can not startx. Still blank screen. Now, my radeon.o module says undefined symbols when you try to load it. Any other gamers or nongamers run into this or have any advice. I've updated kernel and kernel-source. I might can figure out how to fix the unresolved symbols if someone knows how to get my video going so I can install winex. Thanks for all your help.

i remember now that i did get winex installed but when i tried to run an application with it i got error referring to my video. If you need the exact error i'll try and get that for you when i get my radeon.o module to load again.

You should install FC2 tomorrow and get the xorg fglrx patches. :) You get the 2.6.5 kernel with agpgart compiled in. Check out the following thread, the 5th post down has instructions and patches (for FC2T3 but I think they should work in FC2 too):

If you want to stick with your FC1, I don't know what could have happened to your radeon.o but you should probably reinstall the kernel RPM with
rpm -ivh --force kernel-*.rpm
or rebuild the modules from the kernel-source. When you install the fglrx rpm, use --replace-files because it replaces a few files used by Mesa3D. Also watch the messages to make sure it was installed correctly. Sometimes you need to go into /lib/modules/fglrx/build_mod and rebuild and reinstall the module for your kernel. Also make sure to tell fglrxconfig to use the external agpgart and always load agpgart.o before fglrx.o.

I should have said rpm -ivh --replacefiles for the fglrx rpm, sorry.
