cannot play any video

Hi there. On 6th of September I installed Fedora 9 Alpha and everything worked perfectly (even the sound card stayed dormant for years have finally worked under the charm!) but since Tuesday 2nd of September after the update i cannot play any video with either totem or mplayer. tried to install Realplayer but seems missing a dependency called lsd which cannot be found in livna developmemt

probably will be fixed by the update but just wondering if theres anything wrong with my configuration. Thank you.
Btw I have put all the codecs into place like /usr/lib/codecs and /usr/lib/win32 so it should not be the codec's problem.

Hi there

Did you tried with VLC or just plain old xine? For some reason they seem to rely on different engines and sets of codecs; for years now that I fiddle with them, I always run into trouble with Totem so end up installing xine for movies an xmms for music.

Forums are full of recommendations on how to get all "closed" codecs trough livna, but if you use yumex to install xine you will see the list of available plugins, including the non-free ones.

[This will not help with RealVideo though, sorry]

You should be able to play DVD's MP4 and such easy with xine.

VLC has the reputation of being the champion of versatility, hence the mention here.

I tried VLC but surprisingly it has got the same output. But Realplayer did work, surprisingly again.Probably just the dependencies are still unstable. expect it to be fixed soon:P
