I'm very new to Linux...
I'm using Fedora Core 2. on a Laptop with a Xircom pcmcia card. The problem is that when I hibernate (by for example closing the lid), I am then unable to re-activate the network card when I re-awaken the laptop. I've found a workaround of sorts, which is to remove the pcmcia card BEFORE hibernating; then I replace after waking the laptop (maybe it would also work if I replace the card while it is still hibernated but I have not tested that). If I leave the card in and initiate the hibernate the card shuts-down and will not comeback without a reboot. I've tried searching for a fix but no luck so far.

I have this same problem. Has anyone found a solution?
If I try to follow your workaround and remove the nic from the pcmcia slot, my whole system crawls to a horrible sludge and it takes about an hour to even be able to reboot it.

Hibernation works fine. Perhaps a little *too* well.
It's a Toshiba 330CDT. Yes, it's old. But it works fine with Fedora Core 2 and FluxBox.

Hope someone can find a fix for the sleep of death pcmcia nic issue.

If so feel free to shoot me an email:
