Hi I am having problems with my sound card. It is a neomagic sound card 256av(nm2200) according to lspci. the alsa driver is snd-nm256 and it causes it to crash/hang during boot up. I took out the line alias snd-card-0 snd-nm256 and core 2 loaded, but of course I have no sound...I tried to update the new alsa driver but to no avail...ANY help on this would be appreciated...thanks..

vito

p.s. its weird...the oss driver in older linux distros worked fine but as soon as this new kernel(2.6) comes out, everything goes to haywire!!

If you haven't tried already, the most recent kernel should correct your problem.

Hi. I have a Dell Inspiron 3500 with the neomagic 256av display/sound chip. Alsa dont have any support for it at the moment. The only solution i found was to download the oss driver and pay $30.

If you have the nm2200 chip(newer). I am almost sure that alsa supports it.
