Hi,
For some reason, on my HP Pavilion DV2500t laptop, the text looks terrible in KDE. The tops of most letters are cut off, resulting in a very ugly effect. I'll include pictures as it seems like that is the easiest way to explain it. I'm sure this is a bug, since I've run the CD on another laptop and text appeared just fine. Has anyone seen this before? I'm not sure if I should file it under my video card driver, or X or qt or kde or what, so suggestions are welcome. Anyway let me know what you think. Thanks!

have you tried changing Fonts to see if that makes any difference

Hi I tried it again and attempted to change the font and found a little more information. It seems that it does not happen with some of the more basic fonts, as shown in the attached photo. I went through the list, and most fonts were cut off except for Fixed, Console, Dingbats(I think), MiscFixed, and just a couple others. So it seems to be something to do with the rendering of the fancier fonts. Is there anything else I could try? Also, any idea what component this issue would fall under?

Looks like same problem as with this guy (http://www.fedoraforum.org/forum/showthread.php?t=197578&page=2&pp=15) - the tops of characters are lopped off.

Hi, I agree that the symptoms are similar. However I've used Fedora with GNOME on this machine regularly for quite some time and have not had the issue under GNOME. It is only when I've tried the Fedora KDE live CDs that I have had the issue. I believe it happened with a Fedora 9 KDE live cd as well, although that was a while ago. I would like to file a bug on this if necessary, but I don't want to jump on that too early in case it may have been fixed or already reported. Are there any common X configuration issues that can cause this? Other suggestions are welcome of course. Thanks! :)

Have you been able to solve this problem?

I have the same issue with both FC9 and FC10 (live cd/usb) on a new thinkpad T61. Turning off character smoothing helps somewhat, but is not a true fix. I also find that the upper and left sides of button images (like the "Reply Topic" button at the bottom of the thread) are also chopped off. The same live CDs do not cause this in my dell desktop.

I am using gnome, not kde.

I've just updated to f10 today and am now finding not the top but the bottom of characters disappearing, weird thing is they sometimes appear back.

I'm using Gnome and i've tried changing fonts etc. anyone had this issue?

After updating, my issue has gone away. The fonts have looked correct for the past few weeks. I'm using FC10 on a live usb now.
