Is the spell checker for VBbulletin set up as British or something similar? Why does it tell me that the words color or Color , for example, are spelled wrong, but Colour or colour is OK? I've seen this with several other words also. I lose sleep over these types of things you know.

Hello Glenn:

That's the way it should be ... set up to English :)

The Guidelines is an interesting mixture of British and US English too :) "offence" is spelled correctly but "color" is spelled wrongly :p

Good point Greg. Fire up Opera and let us know. :p

I need to steal some of the help links from all you CM's signatures. Got to look more professional. :D

I just installed Epiphany to see what happens with spell checking. The words Color and color as well as offense are accepted as correct as they should be for American English. So that tells me one of several things. Spell checking in Firefox is not right, spell checking in Epiphany doesn't exist or is not turned on or we Americans don't know how to spell

Hello:

Here is the/a result of using Konqueror
and
Firefox
So it does appear to be an issue related to something other than Vbulletin.

That shouldn't affect spell-checking, just the languages displayed.

Changed to English [en]. So now when I type color or Color or offense they are all still underlined in red as if they are spelled wrong. No change. Lets try Wayne's suggestion.

Edit: Shall I install dictionaries?

In Firefox, when you are in the text entry field/ box, right-click and select 'Languages->en_US' and see what happens.

hmmmm.... You are so right pete. I did just that and there were no complaints on my spelling of any words. Oddly enough, en_HK was selected by default. I don't live in HK.
