I upgraded my laptop to fc10 through yum but had some problems, so tried clean install.
There were not enough software in the rawhide, and it costs time to compile.
And I can't enable tapping with my touchpad.
So I get back to fc9 now.
I think there should be more software in the rawhide for testers, even these software are buggy.

I've partitioned my drive(s) so that I have space for multiple distros. I always put the Alpha or Beta versions on a small 'testing' partition that I can delete as soon as I have problems and not interfere with my working distro. As to the specific problems that you had, I hope you took the time to file a bugzilla on the issue. We don't want glitches to end up in 'Final'.

I would like to participate in alpha testing. But I don't have enough space to install multiple distros. Fc10 is a stable alpha version, but lacks several software for my daily work. It's depressing to do my job without some handy software. Maybe I'll install fc10 when beta is out.

Thank you anyway.

Hey Yikeouch!

F10 is FAR from ready. They just released an Alpha version (read: it is not even Beta yet). Alpha versions are risky or everyday use. I have installed it on a spare computer that I have for such purposes. There are tons of bugs in this one at this time, but that is expected and it is challenging to work on them.

For production though, I use F9 at this time. Cheers!

Thanks. I know it's far from ready.
I only use my laptop for study. Takingm notes, watching DVDs and writing essays are all I do. So I thought fc10 alpha is capable to handle all these tasks.
Upgrading through yum kills my freemind and evolution. With clean install there's no DVD codec and are some other minor problems.
I wasted too much time to handle all these problems so I come back to Fc9.

Good choice... Alpha software is for people with extra time to tinker and bug report :D
