I have a dedicated server i wanted to make into a distro server for a few main distros. It's an edu server on a 45 megabit line. It only has about 250 gigs of space i can use for this. I have only been using linux for about a month and a half, but i have apache and ftp set up already. I am planning on setting up rsync soon. If any of you knew what command options i should use with rsync to update my server, with something like a cron job every day or something, i would love to hear it. This is my first time using a lot of this stuff so i am pretty much guessing. Also any hints/tips/scripts you guys have would help me a lot. Thanks!

so you have decided you help us out by donating bandwidth, space, etc. grand!!! I believe you should contact the fedora (and other distro) developers so they can list you as an official mirror. they will also help you set it up. The link contains information about seting up mirrors. but the information is at the very bottom of the page and there is a email address for contacting redhat fedora developers.

The link you have there is broken. I contacted them. I have gotten back from knoppix and suse. I hope redhat soon. I dont really know what options i should use with rsync or how often i should set the cron job. And i have heard about people using scripts but I dont know how to write one or even what they are using them for. I also emailed fedora already =)
