Hallo,
after an update i couldn't login to my system in graphical mode. i have downloaded all the new packages and installed them manually but stell i can't login when i start the x server manually, after a while it freeze then i have to kill it.
i have a lenovo r61 centrino laptop befor that i haven't no problem with the system

It's an alpha release. It's probably full of bugs. The idea is you test it and report the bugs to the developers. The developers do not read this forum so asking for help on an unreleased product is a waste of time.

Yazan, I had this happen at the beginning of the Alpha install. At my "$" prompt, I just typed "startx" without the quotes and the graphic Gnome display came up. I did the 299 updates at the time and the problem is gone.

thank you all for your reply i have updated my system to the newest version but still i can't use the graphical mode , i have to wait until i finish my exams, in the mean while i have to use the micro... thing

It's probably the Intel graphics card which uses the i810 driver. It's broken, should be fixed as soon as they start putting in packages again. (There's a minor pause on updates at the moment, I've forgotten the reason, I'm just waiting for the fix so that I can start X again.) :)
