You will need to install a driver, there is one on http://ipw2100.sourceforge.net/

Go to atrpms and install this 3 RPM
http://atrpms.net/dist/fc2/ipw2100/ (choose the first, and choose the one for your running kernel)
http://atrpms.net/dist/common/ipw2100-firmware/ (choose the first)
After that, add to your /etc/modprobe.conf
alias eth1 ipw2100
Replace eth1 by your device and reboot

Thanks! Still having some problems with this one. Getting dep. problems, it's asking for kernel-module-ipw2100-0.50-13.rhfc2.at
But I can't find that anywhere...

If you don't want the atrpms **** on your machine (it keep updating itself in a f**king manner...), install with the --nodeps option.
For the kernel-module rpm, it's on the first link that I give you. You need the first rpm and find a kernel-module (if you have a i686 system and the last kernel, here is the link : http://download.atrpms.net/testing/packages/fedora-2-i386/atrpms/kernel-module-ipw2100-2.6.6-1.435.2.3-0.50-13.rhfc2.at.i686.rpm

ok, I've done all that now, installed the kernel-module, the firmware and the ipw2100 package, and loaded the module. This is from lsmod:
Module Size Used by
ipw2100 118976 0
ieee80211 11012 1 ipw2100
ieee80211_crypt 4100 1 ieee80211
I'm using the kwifimanager to test my link but it doesn't seem to be doing anything. And kismet complain about not finding eth1. By the way, what do you mean by "Replace eth1 by your device"?
Thanks!

Post the output of the command :
ifconfig
please, after that, it will be easier to debug it.

I'm still using this wlan-card with ndiswrapper...as I did since before this project started.
I have a question about that firmware stuff. Will this be stored inside the wlan device (firmware...?)?
I wouldn't like to have troubles with it, because I want to use this device with FC2 and Windows XP...
Will there be any problems after installing that ipw2100-stuff?
Thx!

No, this is the same that using a driver inside windows xp...
The firmware is seperate from the driver because it's not GPL. Intel did not release the firmware, so it cannot be bundled with the GPL driver...

I installed the ipw2100 driver and the firmware, but after checking the internet I found that it is not fully working for my card, you can only run some tests etc.
So now I'm using the ndiswrapper and the windows driver instead and it works. However, I'm still having some troubles with it, because it makes the laptop (dell 510 with intel centrino) or X (I'm not sure) hang after a while. When I say hang I mean it does not respond to anything, I have to reboot it with the power button.
Does anyone know anything about this problem?

All,
here is a solution that work.
https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=604450&aid=1085277&group_id=93482
This seems to be BIOS bug.
I think I have a fix or a work around, at least on my machine. If I set the BIOS POST to "thorough" instead of "minimal", everything works great. I have had no lockups with ndiswrapper since I've made this change after many many reboots. My theory is that the thorough POST probes (and sets) a register that is left in an unknown state otherwise.
Please let us know if it is also working for you?

You can use atrmps to install the drivers (http://atrpms.net/dist/fc3/ipw2200/) which can be install via yum. Follow this tutorial for atheros (http://www.fedoraforum.org/forum/showthread.php?t=43718) but INSTEAD of atheros drivers (or madwifi) REPLACE the madwifi lines with ipw2200.
It has to be according to your kernel version!!! so be very carefull in the package selection.
