OK, so I have tired of waiting for third-party drivers for Fedora's choice of x.org every time there is a new release - my ATI card is no longer filling me with any warm feelings: It always breaks a Fedora upgrade.

So ...

With the (semi) demise of the HCL, I was hoping for some suggestions for a graphics card that will be very likely to be supported by current and future Fedora releases, with GL support, so I can buy a new one and feel happy about upgrading again.

Any suggestions please?

Any nvidia card should work perfectly. I have an assortment new and old and they all work great and are well supported.

Please, go to nvnews.net and see how nvidia owners are dealing with cards. I'm quite happy, except hibernate/suspend bugs, probably because I have quadro card, but people are complaining all about kde4 and ff performance.
I don't want to give any suggestions, see for yourself at nvnews, but I prefer ATI at this point for it's great 2D and quite good 3D, even OSS drivers are really good, which I can't say about nv.

Up until recently Nvidia has been the graphics card of choice (my choice, anyway ) for linux, even with their binary blob. But a series of events over the past year has tipped me toward ATI. I currently have a go7600 in my HP laptop but my next machine will feature ATI.
Not to knock this forum, but Phoronix will have detailed information on both ATI and Nvidia, including reviews of hardware, drivers, and commentary on the current and future state of the grahics card market.
