I've bought an intel core 2 duo, and i want to download fedora, but i don't know which: i386, x86 64 or ppc. I think it's the second but i'm not sure. Could you help me?

Thanks

new here?

try a LiveCD or DVD first

if you want try the 64 bit then you want the x86_64

From the ones I have tried, the LiveCD/dvd's will have an option to install from them once they are up. Seems to work most of the time. You might want a unity respin for 9

I may be corrected but I think you can install i386 on both types x86_64 or i386.

As far as I know, x86_64 only for AMD64.

You can install the i386 on any of the standard x86 type processors whether they be 32 bit or 64 bit.

The x86_64 will only install on 64 bit processors.

A couple of years ago there were a lot of problems with add ins for 64 bit Linux. Things like Flash etc. I read that they have been mostly overcome but have never bothered to try the x86_64 distribution again.

32 bit works well on my 64 bit processors and I need the 32 bit distribution for older 32 bit processors.

Some users do claim performance enhancements using a 64 bit processor with the x86_64 distribution though.
