I am running F9 on my tx1000 HP laptop. The built-in wireless card is a broadcom card which used to show up in lspci as
03:00.0 0280: 14e4:4311 Broadcom Corporation Dell Wireless 1390 WLAN Mini-PCI Card rev 02
And worked happily with the ndiswrapper.
One day recently I got the following errors in /var/log/messages:
Jul 26 12:04:40 yarrow kernel: ndiswrapper: driver bcmwl5 (Broadcom,10/12/2006, 4.100.15.5) loaded
Jul 26 12:04:40 yarrow kernel: ndiswrapper (NdisWriteErrorLogEntry:190): log: C000138B, count: 1, return_address: ffffffff88ac7f7e
Jul 26 12:04:40 yarrow kernel: ndiswrapper (NdisWriteErrorLogEntry:193): code: 0x9
Jul 26 12:04:40 yarrow kernel: ndiswrapper (mp_init:219): couldn't initialize device: C0000001
Jul 26 12:04:40 yarrow kernel: ndiswrapper (pnp_start_device:435): Windows driver couldn't initialize the device (C0000001)
Jul 26 12:04:40 yarrow kernel: ndiswrapper (mp_halt:262): device ffff810068774700 is not initialized - not halting
Jul 26 12:04:40 yarrow kernel: ndiswrapper: device eth%d removed
Jul 26 12:04:40 yarrow kernel: ndiswrapper: probe of 0000:03:00.0 failed with error -22
From that point forward, the card has not functioned, not even appeared in lspci. I opened the laptop and reseated the card, but it didn't help.
Has anyone seen anything like this before? I am assuming now that my card is simply dead... and one month after my warranty ran out >:o
