Hi Nokia,

Thank you for your reply I really do appreciate it, By the way I tried the code you provide see message below for the message.

[root@kpreston ~]# gedit /etc/yum.repos.d/CentOS-Media.repo
cannot open display:
Run 'gedit --help' to see a full list of available command line options.

I tried 'gedit --help-all' but I don't know how to modify so I could enable=0
can you walk me through it? I'm just new with Linux I'm not really that good in codes for linux
Hope to hear back from you soon. thank you

cheers,
Kevin

Replace gedit with nano, scroll to the enabled line using arrows, modify it, press Ctrl + o to save, press Enter, press Ctrl + x to exit

You're welcome. :)

Try to provide a more detailed perspective when asking for help. ;) Right now, I suspect you might have a fres install of CentOS, yet I don't know if it's 5 or 5.1 This update should bring you to version 5.2. Therefore, after all updates have been applied successfully, you still need to do the folowing:setenforce 0
touch /.autorelabel
reboot

Hi Nokia,

it seems that the SE was disabled.
[root@kpreston ~]# setenforce 0
setenforce: SELinux is disabled
nothing happened - what does the 'setenforce 0' do
i've done rebooting the computer by the way is there any other code i need to do before rebooting the computer?

cheers,
Kevin

The touch... command should be enough
