Hello zedd108

If your wireless setup can see your router then it may just be the general problem that we have been having with Fedora recently. For a lot of people with the 2.6.25.9-76 kernel there has been a problem somewhere between the kernel and wpa_supplicant which blocks connection.

You can check which kernel you are running with the command:

uname -r

in a terminal.

If you have that kernel, then a quick way to test it is to select the earlier kernel from the grub boot menu. That fixes it for almost everyone.

Incidentally, there is a new kernel, 2.6.25.10-86, in the update repository that doesn't seem to have this problem.

Had a similar problem at the library today they had a public wi-fi so tried clicking it a few times and nota. Any ways thinking it might be a prob with linux I was playing around with it and kept clicking the connection and after a few times it actually connected. Not sure why but it could have been problems with the signal.

Hello zedd108

In that case we need to do a bit of diagnostic work.

Run the command:

/sbin/lspci

and post back the details of your card.

Run:

su -

to get full root control over your machine and then:

ndiswrapper -l

then run:

iwconfig

to find the designation of the wireless interface you have, then:

iwlist wlan0 scan

obviously, if iwconfig returns something other than 'wlan0' then substitute what you do have in iwlist.

Then run:

dmesg | grep ndis

and

dmesg | grep wlan0

and post back the result of those.

As an afterthought, I assume you have used a valid windows driver with ndiswrapper? Ndiswrapper will only work with Windows XP drivers. It will not work with those for Vista.
