Hello,

I've been trying to sync my palm z22 using j-pilot and gnome-pilot.

I've been around and seen some HowTo's. All of them assume that the device is visible not under /dev/pilot but /dev/ttyUSB0 or /dev/ttyUSB1

I don't see either of those; not tty nor pilot ones. I don't know what's happening or how to make it visible. Can anybody help me?

I'm sure that the cable works since it charges the z22... that's all.

It only becomes visible when you when you hot sync
/sbin/lsusb (when you have it in hot sync)

To test that pilot-link is working;
pilot-xfer -p usb: -l (then press hotsync)

[root@introdesk ~]# lsusb
Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub
Bus 002 Device 003: ID 046d:c016 Logitech, Inc. M-UV69a/HP M-UV96 Optical Wheel Mouse
Bus 002 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub

that's what I get...

Did you select hotsys first then /sbin/lsusb? If not you wont get anything.

yes I did hit hotsync and then /sbin/lsusb...

This means no connection?

I assume that you can hotsync with windows?
I have a different device but it should work the same.
Check the palm preferences to see if your set to Lan cradle/Cable

Turn on udev debugging.
udevcontrol log_priority=debug
Then press the hotsync button on the palm, and look at the messages in /var/log/messages
