hai frnds out there,

am n newbie to this world..

i hv installed fedora 8....n i wanna connect to the internet via my internal modem(dialup)...mine is 'motorola sm56 speakerphone' modem...hw cud i know if my modem is detected??n hw to configure a dialup connection??plz help...

/sbin/lspci will tell you if it is detected.

A google has shown it is linux compatible, and there should be drivers somewhere on the manufacturers website, but they have moved.

run that command, sudo /sbin/lspci

it will output hardware device details on your PC.

Search it for your modem. If your modem hardware is listed then all you need to do is configure kppp or another ppp application.

for kppp, go to "applications" -> "internet" -> "kppp" and setup a new connection.
