After upgrading my system from F-8, rawhide to F-9 I had sound working for both totem and VLC. Some updates later I suddenly have a situation where VLC works fine. So does system sounds etc. But totem gives no sound at all. VLC and totem are examples, some apps does work, some doesn't.

totem is using the gstreamer backend.

There are no error messages whatsoever from totem and other progs not working - they seem to happily deliver sound packets to somewhere, possibly /dev/null.

Any clues out there? Thx for any help...

Found the answer in another thread... In System/Preferences/Hardware/Sound is a combo for Music and Movies. Setting this to Pulseaudio Sound Server resolves issue for me.

Hey, thanks for this -- totem wasn't playing anything but everything else was working. It was driving me up a wall, since there's no verbose option with totem. This fixed it up nicely.
