MD5 Squirrelmail to connect with Dovecot

Can the MD5 pasword scheme be enable from /usr/share/squirrelmail/config/conf.pl
squirrelmail configuration.

I am trying to log on using encryption MD5 to connect to Dovecot but the error log is showing PLAIN and I get the ERROR
Unknown user or password incorrect.
Go to the login page

All the mail stuff are running dovecot partial configuration
driver = mysql
connect = host=localhost dbname=postfix user=postfix password=blahblah
default_pass_scheme = MD5

So tell me how I can get to the change_pass plugin to use MD5?
