This is my first laptop. When the I close the lid/top with a download running, will the download continue when the laptop puts itself into hibernate/suspend?

The power cable will be plugged in if that's important.

You can choose what happens at lid-close.

See "Syetem->Preferences->System->Power Management"

The options (separate for AC & battery) are do nothing, blank display, suspend & hibernate.

I *think* at a minimum you want to blank the screen when the lid is closed.
suspend and hibernate stop all processing. This either stops everything but dram refresh OR copies the dram to swap and shuts down.

Either hibernate or suspend will restart (nearly) everything nwiththe system is restarted.

Thanks. It is displaying this strange behaviour when I put it into suspend. It seems to lose network connectivity when using the wireless if I put the laptop into suspend. wlan0 becomes Inactive in Network Device Control. I then have to reactivate wlan0 before I can reconnect to the internet.

Is this "expected" behaviour?
