Hello to all,
I will write down what I did. Maybe some body can explain to me what happened or if I can recover my files. At least may serve as something to not repeat by anybody else.
I have two computers, laptop and desktop. On the desktop I started the smb service, included samba in selinux, and created a new user. Then I logged as this user and activate the personal file sharing.
I moved to my laptop, browsed the local network and double clicked on the desktop and find the shared folder. I copied all my laptop's files to the desktop. I created folder and even opened some files that were already copied to the desktop to make sure everything were in order. Then I powered off the desktop.
I formatted and installed FC9 on my laptop. Then I went back to desktop, powered on and logged as this new user to copy back all my files to the laptop. The Public folder was empty. I opened a terminal to list all files as superuser, but it was really empty.
I do not know what went wrong. Any ideas that may explain what happened? Any chance to recover my files?
Thanks in advance.
Neville
