I have a 1TB Fantom Drive that works perfectly as a storage device.

This is my first attempt at installing to a USB external drive, and searches on the subject say it is no problem. Yet when I try it I select Custom Install, and Anaconda can't fina any drives. Bios shows the drive just fine, but it does not show up in Anaconda.

Does anyone know of a problem with Fantom Drives ? Or has anyone experienced a failure to locate USB external drives during installaition ?

You can try booting the Fedora DVD with the linux expert boot option. It may cause the USB drive to appear in the anaconda disk druid. You can enter it at the Welcome to Fedora! menu screen either by pressing <Esc> and entering it at the boot: prompt, or by pressing <Tab> and entering it at the end of the vmlinuz line. No promises. You can read more in a thread in the HOWTO forum (http://forums.fedoraforum.org/showthread.php?t=116549). It's a little old, but the concepts I think are still good. You may find some other ideas there related to Fedora on an external drive. This boot option is also mentioned in the sticky (http://forums.fedoraforum.org/showthread.php?t=25826) at the top of the Installation Help forum.
