On May 12, 2008, my XYL (wife) was looking at data files on the Samba share. In the early PM, I downloaded and installed Fedora 8 update packages. Later that evening, my wife told me she could not access data on the share.
In a terminal session, I browsed the share with [ ls -l ] command. I found that my group authority had been removed and replaced by owner below the first folder level. I manually set group authority on those folders and files of greatest interest to her. What I don't know how to do is globally fix the share.
Did anyone else have this happen?
