How I understand that, a internal modem is working properly? - help

Serial modem will work as expected. Winmodem needs special drivers to work, sometime you can make it work, sometime cannot. First you need to know what kind of a modem do you have. In almost all cases it is easier to buy serial (analog) modem, if you don't have an opportunity to use fast internet.
