I am running Fedora 8 on my laptop and another distro on my desktop. I have complete functionality from my desktop, but I cannot access via wireless, neither can I access the printers wifi functionality. Not sure what to do. I have HPLIP installed and I followed the directions that were given in the CUPS website I still can get nowhere.
Thanks for continously bailing me out,
wratliff.

I have the HP 8180 AIO and have hplip installed from the repo and I ran "hp-setup" and chose to connect via the "Network/Ethernet/Wireless" option. I can connect wirelessly using desktops/laptops on home network with Fedora 7, 8 and 9preview.
If you are now connecting via usb you will have to re-choose your method for connecting as you cannot use usb/wireless simultaneously.
EDIT: The printer is not connected with a ethernet cable just wireless.

Just to make things a little clearer, I guess, I am connecting via USB with my desktop, Are you saying that I cannot connect with my desktop using USB since I am trying to connect simultaneously via wireless/Ethernet?

The user manual for the HP 8180 states " You can connect the HP-All-in-One to either a wireless or wired network but not both at the same time."

That poses a big problem for me then, because my tower is not wireless capable and my laptop doesn't get hard wired.
However, I have it running to a router which is wireless so wouldn't this essentially solve the problem. I have it connected to the tower via USB, then I have a RJ45 running from the back of the printer to my wireless router.
Shouldn't I be able to pick up the ip address from the printer from the router at least?
The next problem is I am not finding the firmware for my printer so is this because I need to upgrade my HPLIP?
Any experience/information is vastly appreciated.
thanks

I would unplug the usb cable and just try to see if you can access the printer by using the ethernet cable to your wireless router. You could also just try to access the printer wirelessly without any cables just to see if you can make the connection. You should just have to run as root "hp-setup" and choose your method of connecting.
I use wireless usb adapters for my desktops and can have my printer located anywhere within signal range.

No USB adapter at this time, but maybe I can try the other with the RJ45
