View Full Version : Memory not detected

I have just upgraded my machine memory from 2 to 4Gb. Originally FC7 detected the 2Gb without any problem. Now it sees 2.7Gb (as reported by System Monitor)?!? The BIOS sees the full 4Gb without any problems nor errors. As it is all ECC Reg memory (as required by motherborad) it should not have any errors without me knowing about it.
Tyan Thunder K8WE dual AMD Opteron
4Gb Corsair RAM in 1GB DIMMs (in same slots as original 0.5Gb DIMMs were)
Other specs available if they will help.
Suggestions please.
Thanks,
Michael.

Hello:
Not sure this will fix your issue, however, here are some links to similar threads.
They may help.

Seve - thanks for that. However, I am not sure that any of those threads help. I have a dual Opteron system which recognises the full 4Gb (in the BIOS). It just appears to be my FC7 (x86_64) that has the problem.
I have attached dmesg output to see if anyone can make any more of that - are there some BIOS settings I need to change for reserved areas/mapping etc?
Thanks,
Michael

Problem now resolved: I needed to turn memory hole remapping on (now set to hardware) and all is fine. Missed it completely in the depths of my BIOS menus, Thanks for the help,
Michael
