But where is the firewall on FC2 ? I take it there's some kind of .config somewhere, as well as some kind of log ?

Hey PompeyBlue,
The firewall in Fedora Core 2 is at: system settings > security level
But I use firestarter instead and it works great!!!
Here is the link:
http://firestarter.sourceforge.net/

Hey PompeyBlue,
The firewall in Fedora Core 2 is at: system settings > security levelThat is correct.
Now for PompeyBlue's sake I would like to point out that this is the recommended firewall for Fedora Core 2 as it is integrated into the system by default and turned on by default. It's also incredibley easy to use for a newbie, with only a limited amount of choice of what to let in or out through the firewall. For example to allow access to a webserver on your PC.
As a newbie it is not advised to go tinkering with an alternative type of firewall. Wait until your more experienced with Linux, you shouldn't rush things. Otherwise you may get burnt.

I also vote to use Firestarter for a more complex firewall (http://fedoraforum.org/forum/showthread.php?t=1435).
