I currently have FC8 64bit on my MacBook with no problems, but I cannot load FC 9 since it will not detect my SATA controller. I have tried Alpha/Beta/Preview without any luck. Any suggestions?

Have you checked your bios settings to see what options are enabled for you hard drive? Some options will make the use of the drive impossible. Some of the commons ones are the ones that state they are dependant on the OS supporting the feature.

The MacBook is EFI, no BIOS :) and it currently is working on FC8

I should mention that I am pretty sure this is a bug with the new kernel since I have the same issues when I compile the kernel from source.

There's some test patches now, and a work around nobody has tried.

I'm trying that patch now, but for others having this problem I've heard a workaround is to blacklist ata_piix (boot up, hit <tab> at the boot menu and add "blacklist=ata_piix" to the argument list and then <enter> to boot), then manually load it ("modprobe ata_piix") once the ahci module has been has loaded.

Can that work around work for the installer? How do I manually load stuff in the installer?

The only way it will work is by patching the installers kernel

On another note if you have trouble with your LCDs back light turning off try setting the Power Management to always display and icon in the tray.

It looks like a patch for the SATA controller will make it into FC9 final
