Hey Guys I am a newbie just converted my XP Pro box to FC1 But for the past 2 days I am having problem
wtih no sound at all. I have tried to install alsa drivers, followed the instructions but when I tried the modprobe I get the following messages:- can any one tell me what I am doing wrong, I have even switched from gnome to kde but could not even find any sound.

modprobe snd-opl3sa3;modprobe snd-pcm-oss;modprobe snd-mixer-oss;modprobe snd-seq-oss
modprobe: Can't locate module snd-opl3sa3
modprobe: Can't locate module snd-pcm-oss
modprobe: Can't locate module snd-mixer-oss
modprobe: Can't locate module snd-seq-oss

I have an on-board sound card opl3-sa3 by Yamaha

You are sure alsa is installed? I have alsa-lib installed, but than again I have Fedora Core 2.

Run locate snd-opl to try and find the drivers. They are in my /lib/modules directory.

Have you considered attempting to upgrade to Core 2? It has alsa.

Search my postings (morr). I had the same problem with my laptop, which has the same integrated sound. I got it working.
