Hi guys. I recently grabbed the Fedora Core 8 ISO image from the official download site and burned it to a DVD-R. I installed it on my dual-core computer and all went well. I went to install it on my other PC (older) and was logged into Windows XP Pro at the time. I inserted the DVD disc and chose "restart" in Windows to boot my PC into Linux for installation for dual-booting purposes. I went for a smoke after I restarted my PC and when I came back the power to my PC was off. I turned my PC back on and it just sits there and doesn't progress past the Dell splash screen.

Did Linux just fry my computer or am I crazy?

It sounds more like your system suffered a power surge or a system overheat while you where smoking. Personally I would unplug it, press the power button, plug it back in and try it again. If that doesn't work, try resetting your cmos.

Did you tried removing the Linux Boot CD and then retartiong the computer... Maybe your DELL does not recognize the media...

Since you re-started the PC from Win XP and the DVD drive is existing hardware, I would look rather to those two items as the more likely cause of problems than a Fedora DVD disk that never got past an initial read.
