hi,
just did a yum update and it installed a new fedora-release file. My login prompts now read Fedore Core Release 2 instead of the 1.92 tag. Nothing else was updated though. Looks like they are freezing in today...
while we are at it, how would I yum update my 1.92 (T3) to the final 2.0? The old base repository URL that's in my yum.conf does not exist anymore...

:) You are correct!!! :)
I just ran yum and on the subsequent reboot FC2 was displayed - no more FC 1.92 Test3. I just have one hope though - that when the ISOs are released, the powers-that-be will be able to get the gnome system sounds working. ;)

Please don't give people the impression that Core 2 is released. It is not. The development process is simply done and all packages are freezed. Core 2 will be releleased to the public coming monday.

We have two days left until mirror master.
Please, no panic and/or rumors. ;)

Doesn't the freeze mean that once you update FC2-Test 3 to current it becomes the final? Just wondering about that.

Not exactly. Yes, you may have the same packages installed, but you are not guaranteed to have the same configuration or 'working' setup. You are also not installing new packages that may have been added.. you're only updating those you have. In particular, there are often files that do not get updated or replaced by rpm -- take a look at:
locate *.rpm???
You will also not benefit from any changes that are made by anaconda, by firstboot, by disk druid.. essentially it is best to plan on reformatting and installing, but if you're up for the fight you can leave the system updated just from rawhide.
(don't enter another testing phase from that condition tho...)
